So, we finally got to the boat and we love it. BUT she definitely needs a fair amount of love. List of to dos:
Bottom needs sanded and anti-fouled
Cutless bearing is loose
Anodes are corroded
Boot strip and top portion of the hull needs sanded, primed and painted.
Boom needs replaced
Main sail is torn
We found a skiff under the boat and it seems to be holding air decently but we need an outboard for it
Our first night in the boat we had a storm blow through that dumped A LOT of rain and we found plenty of leaks! Two hatches, mast and starboard side windows.
With all of those leaks, there is plenty of wood work that need completed
The stove doesn’t appear to work but we had to send a propane tank down the Grenada to find out if it does
The fridge kicks on but we haven’t had enough power to see if it actually gets cold. It draws A LOT of power
The SSB blows a fuse every time I turn it on
The bathroom literally smells like death. Maybe even worse than death. It’s awful! So whatever that entails to rid it of that smell
The Bimini is torn in several places
The depth meter is broken
I haven’t even checked to see if running and masthead lights are working
I haven’t tried to fire the diesel that claims 18k hours on the meter
The life raft and the EPIRB are visually outdated
I’m actually going to stop there because writing this is making me stressed and overwhelmed. But hey, at least I have a checklist now to work off of. Haha. We’ll keep you updated on our progress as we check them off.
Thank you all for taking your time to keep up with us.
Lots of love,
Travis
